Music x media: Jälkeenjääneet arkistot – The Story of Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät (PKN)
A new collaboration between Pertti Valinta and Tiketti brings the Jälkeenjääneet arkistot exhibition to Music X Media in Tampere! The collaboration is part of Tiketti's 50th anniversary celebrations.
Whose rider had whiskey, hot dogs and marmalade in it? What methods did Pertti Kurikka use to create cover art? What kind of fan mail did the band, known from the Eurovision Song Contest and the films Kovasikajuttu and Tokasikajuttu, receive?
"Jälkeenjääneet arkistot" exhibition revives the story of Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät (PKN) - the band that did over 300 gigs and almost as many records and cassettes.
"We wanted to make this exhibition as a thank you to our fans. Now everyone can see what kind of work playing in the band was really like, because for us it was precisely work," says PKN bassist Sami Helle.
The exhition offers a unique video journey into the world of Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät through a Virtual Player made by Antti Kuivalainen. The Virtual Player allows the audience to explore the bands archives from unprecedented home videos to concert recordings.
There's also a wealth of stuff dug out from the band members' private collections: photos from the rugged touring career, album cover originals shedding light on the creative process, instruments familiar from TV, correspondence, setlists, festival passes - a backlog of archives literally from floor to ceiling.
The driving force behind PKN's run from 2008 to 2016 was a do-it-yourself attitude. Singer Kari Aalto, guitarist Pertti Kurikka, bassist Sami Helle and drummer Toni Välitalo bulldozed their way to play gigs in 16 different countries and all the way to the Eurovision Song Contest. The exhibition, which takes you back to years gone by, was also born out of their own initiative.
"It's been so long since we stopped that many of those who heard about us have never seen us play live. With this exhibition share our journey with the younger generations and everyone else. Especially we want to encourage others to do what they love," says Helle.
The curation and the visual identity of the exhibition has been made by Kulttuurituotanto Creat osk
in collaboration with Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät band and Pertti's Choice.

Emil Nordman: Uncertainty – The Tales of Emeric
Uncertainty – The Tales of Emeric on tunteellinen ja energinen esitys, joka tempaa katsojan mukaan soturi Emericin maailmaan ja syvälle ihmismielen varjoihin.
Miekkailusta ja kamppailulajien liikekielestä ammentava tanssillinen teos pohjautuu psykoanalyytikko Carl Gustav Jungin varjotyön käsitteeseen. Se peilaa myyttisen fantasiamaailman kautta kysymyksiä, jotka koskettavat meitä jokaista: Kuinka hyvin tunnemme itsemme? Hallitsemmeko itseämme todella? Voimmeko voittaa sieluissamme piilevän pimeyden ja löytää sisäisen valomme?
Uncertainty – The Tales of Emeric on Emil Nordmanin kirjoittama fiktiivinen teos, joka perustuu Nordmanin omiin kokemuksiin. Nordman myös esiintyy itse teoksessa. Emil Nordman on DuvTeaternissa vuodesta 2016 toiminut esiintyvä taiteilija.
